Qualifications

• Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license, as issued by the Ohio State Department of Education, Office of Teacher Certification and Licensure, pursuant to ORC 3319.22 to 3319.31.
• Ability to provide leadership and direction and to work cooperatively with other professional staff.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written or oral form to staff, students, parents, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of students.
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information.
• Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment.
• Prepare clear and timely lesson plans that differentiate instruction using research-based practices.
• Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear explanations using varied instructional techniques.
• Use assessment results to analyze data and inform instructional decisions.
• Be an active member of the school's special education meetings.
• Keep abreast of IDEA rules and regulations.
• Prepare thorough IEPs and reference documents.
• Refer students suspected of learning difficulties to support teams.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders and attend parent/teacher conferences.
• Establish cooperative relationships with parents and update reports.
• Notify parents if goals are not met and maintain the gradebook.
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide substitute plans.
• Assist administration with procedures and safety rules.
• Protect equipment and facilities and attend required meetings and field trips.
