Job summary

City of Gold Coast is seeking a Tree Maintenance Worker to join the arboriculture team. This ground-based role focuses on the care and maintenance of newly planted and juvenile trees across parks, streetscapes and public spaces on the Gold Coast.

You will work as part of a supportive crew to help young trees establish and thrive. The position requires a Cert II in Horticulture or related discipline or at least one year of industry experience, plus an unrestricted MR Class Driver Licence and a

• Cert II in Horticulture / Conservation & Landcare Management / Arboriculture or related discipline.
• OR a minimum of 1 year industry experience.
• MR Class Drivers Licence (Unrestricted) (Mandatory).
• General Construction Induction White Card (Mandatory).
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work safely both independently and within a team.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Attention to detail and pride in maintaining public assets.

Responsibilities

• Watering newly planted and juvenile trees.
• Mulching and weed control around tree bases.
• Inspecting tree health and identifying maintenance requirements.
• Pruning juvenile trees to improve structure and promote healthy growth.
• Installing and maintaining tree stakes, ties, and guards.
• Applying fertiliser and soil conditioners where required.
• Recording completed works using mobile devices or work management systems.
• Operating and maintaining hand tools and small plant equipment.
• Following all Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
• Providing a professional level of customer service when interacting with the public.
