Job summary

Parkview Constructions Pty is seeking a Junior Site Safety Officer to develop your career in construction health and safety on live sites in Sydney. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience working with experienced professionals in safety inspections, inductions and incident reporting.

Reporting to the Site Manager or Safety Advisor, you will support the team with day-to-day safety activities, help maintain WHS&E systems and grow your knowledge of legislation and best practice.

Qualifications

• A construction, engineering, building or related qualification.
• Developing understanding of construction safety legislation, regulations and standards.
• Construction White Card.
• Senior First Aid Certificate - desirable.
• Confident to speak with site teams, subcontractors and employees.
• Willingness to learn and apply safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and follow up items.
• Support site inductions and ensure workers have proper IDs and documentation.
• Act as a first-aid point of contact and assist with incident recording and reporting.
• Assist with WHS&E system and site safety plan maintenance.
• Support safety committees, pre-starts and workplace consultation.
• Maintain safety signage, notices, first aid supplies and safety registers.
• Assist with safety controls installation and maintenance.
• Monitor subcontractors and labour hire for safe practices.
• Identify high-risk activities and develop safe work procedures (SWMS).
• Conduct subcontractor pre-start safety checks and monitor performance.
• Collect and report safety information and statistics.
• Coordinate safety training for Parkview employees.
• Assist with administration and improvement of WHS&E systems.

Job description

Parkview Constructions is looking for a Junior Site Safety Officer to join our team and develop your career in construction health and safety.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is early in their safety career and wants to gain hands-on experience on a live construction site, working alongside experienced construction and safety professionals.

Reporting to the Site Manager or Safety Advisor, you will support the construction team with day-to-day safety activities, help maintain Parkview's WHS&E systems and develop your knowledge of construction safety, legislation and best practice.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting regular site safety inspections and following up outstanding items.
• Supporting site inductions and ensuring workers have the appropriate identification and documentation.
• Acting as a first point of contact for first aid on site and assisting with the recording, reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses.
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing review of Parkview's WHS&E Management System and site safety plans.
• Assisting with safety committees, pre-starts and workplace consultation.
• Maintaining site safety signage, notices, first aid supplies and safety registers.
• Assisting with the installation and maintenance of safety controls including handrails, barricades and traffic signage.
• Monitoring subcontractors and labour hire workers to ensure safe work practices are being followed.
• Assisting with identifying high-risk activities and developing safe work procedures and SWMS.
• Conducting subcontractor pre-start safety checks and monitoring their safety performance.
• Assisting with the collection and reporting of safety information and statistics.
• Supporting the coordination of safety training for Parkview employees.
• Assisting with the administration and ongoing improvement of Parkview's WHS&E systems.

You will ideally have:

• A construction, engineering, building or related qualification.
• A developing understanding of construction safety legislation, regulations and standards.
• A Construction White Card.
• A Senior First Aid Certificate - desirable.
• Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety - desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.
• The confidence to speak with site teams, subcontractors and employees.
• A genuine interest in health, safety and the construction industry.
