Job summary

Parkview Constructions Pty is seeking a Junior Site Safety Officer to develop your career in construction health and safety on live Sydney projects. You will support day-to-day safety activities, assist with inductions, incident reporting and WHS&E systems, while learning from experienced professionals.

You'll work closely with site teams, sub-contractors and employees, helping to identify risks and contribute to safe work practices on site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and follow up items.
• Support inductions and ensure workers have required documentation.
• Act as first aid point and assist with incident recording and investigation.
• Support WHS&E system and site safety plans reviews.
• Assist safety committees, pre-starts and workplace consultation.
• Maintain site safety signage, notices and first aid supplies.
• Assist with safety controls installation and maintenance (handrails, barricades).
• Monitor subcontractors and labour hire for safe practices.
• Identify high-risk activities and develop safe work procedures (SWMS).
• Conduct subcontractor pre-start safety checks and monitor safety performance.
• Collect and report safety information and statistics.
• Coordinate safety training for Parkview employees.
• Administer and continuously improve WHS&E systems.

Job description

Parkview Constructions is looking for a Junior Site Safety Officer to join our team and develop your career in construction health and safety.

Founded in 1997, Parkview is a multi-award-winning construction company with more than 180 employees and a strong pipeline of residential and commercial projects across Sydney.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is early in their safety career and wants to gain hands‑on experience on a live construction site, working alongside experienced construction and safety professionals.

Reporting to the Site Manager or Safety Advisor, you will support the construction team with day‑to‑day safety activities, help maintain Parkview's WHS&E systems and develop your knowledge of construction safety, legislation and best practice.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting regular site safety inspections and following up outstanding items.
• Supporting site inductions and ensuring workers have the appropriate identification and documentation.
• Acting as a first point of contact for first aid on site and assisting with the recording, reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses.
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing review of Parkview's WHS&E Management System and site safety plans.
• Assisting with safety committees, pre-starts and workplace consultation.
• Maintaining site safety signage, notices, first aid supplies and safety registers.
• Assisting with the installation and maintenance of safety controls including handrails, barricades and traffic signage.
• Monitoring subcontractors and labour hire workers to ensure safe work practices are being followed.
• Assisting with identifying high‑risk activities and developing safe work procedures and SWMS.
• Conducting subcontractor pre‑start safety checks and monitoring their safety performance.
• Assisting with the collection and reporting of safety information and statistics.
• Supporting the coordination of safety training for Parkview employees.
• Assisting with the administration and ongoing improvement of Parkview's WHS&E systems.

What we're looking for

You will ideally have:

• A construction, engineering, building or related qualification.
• A developing understanding of construction safety legislation, regulations and standards.
• A Construction White Card.
• Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety – desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to learn.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.
• The confidence to speak with site teams, subcontractors and employees.
• A genuine interest in health, safety and the construction industry.
