Job summary

GTE in Melbourne is seeking a Junior Designer / Estimator to join the growing racking and storage solutions team. You will work with the National Design Manager to develop practical, cost-effective layouts and estimates for customer projects.

Key tasks include reviewing requirements, producing layouts, take-offs, BOMs, supplier pricing, and supporting sales with technical data. You will coordinate with suppliers, engineering, and installation, ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in racking design and/or estimating is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software is essential.
• Interest or background in structural engineering, design or construction.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and project information.
• Prepare racking layouts and designs.
• Prepare material take-offs and bills of materials.
• Prepare project estimates and quotations.
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Support the Sales team with technical and estimating information.

Our client provides Innovative and practical storage and racking solutions to customers across Australia. They work closely with various Stakeholders, sales teams, manufacturers and project partners to deliver solutions that are safe, compliant, cost-effective and tailored to each project.

They are seeking a Junior Designer / Estimator to join their team. This role will suit someone with experience in racking design and estimating, or a Graduate/Student Structural Engineer looking to develop their career in the industry.

About the Role

Working closely with their National Design Manager, you will help develop practical and cost-effective racking and storage solutions for our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing customer requirements and project information.

Preparing racking layouts and designs.

Preparing material take-offs and bills of materials.

Preparing project estimates and quotations.

Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing.

Supporting the Sales team with technical and estimating information.

Coordinating information with suppliers, engineering, installation and other project teams.

Ensuring designs and documentation are accurate and professional.

Identifying tender opportunities through platforms such as EstimateOne.

Maintaining project drawings and documentation.

Providing general administration support to the Sales team when required.

About You

They are looking for someone who:

Has experience in racking design and/or estimating, preferably.

Has experience using AutoCAD or similar design software [key essential].

Has experience with Cin7 [advantageous but not essential].

Has strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Has an interest or background in structural engineering, design or construction.

Has good communication and organisational skills.

Can work independently and as part of a team.

Is reliable, professional and willing to learn.
