Australian Family Lawyers is seeking a motivated Junior Lawyer (1+ year experience in family law preferred) to join our dynamic and supportive team in Cockburn. You will work closely with senior lawyers to assist with a broad range of family law matters, contribute to case strategy, and deliver exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• 1+ year post-admission experience in family law preferred.
• Bachelor of Laws and admission to practice in Australia.
• Experience as Paralegal/Law Clerk is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management.
• Ability to work autonomously and accept coaching.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior lawyers with management and progression of family law matters.
• Draft and review court documents, correspondence, and legal research.
• Support hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Communicate professionally with clients, counsel, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to case strategy and identify key legal issues.
• Maintain accurate file management and uphold Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior lawyers with the management and progression of family law matters
• Draft, review, and prepare court documents, correspondence, and legal research
• Support the preparation of hearings, mediations, and court appearances

• Contribute to case strategy by identifying key legal issues and applying sound judgment
• Manage tasks effectively to minimise risk and ensure high-quality client outcomes
• Maintain accurate file management and uphold the firm’s Code of Conduct

Qualifications

• 1+ year post-admission experience in family law preferred
• Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and admission to practice in Australia
• Previous experience as a Paralegal, Law Clerk, or Legal Assistant (advantageous)
