Job summary

GLE Civil and Pipe is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Hoppers Crossing team. You will work closely with project delivery teams and the operations manager to help prepare estimates, tenders and submissions and support business development.

The role involves reviewing tender documents, preparing take-offs, sourcing quotes, and assisting with tender handover. A 1–3 year civil estimating background, strong Excel/Word skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Approximately 1–3 years' experience in estimating, tendering or a similar role in civil construction.
• Able to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Source and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare tender submissions, including schedules, methodologies and supporting documents.
• Assist with handover from tender to the delivery team.
• Maintain rates, pricing records and estimating data.
• Keep the project library current with project details, photos and client references.
• Maintain capability statements and staff CVs for use in tenders.

Job description

We're looking for a Junior Estimator to join our team at our Hoppers Crossing office. Working closely with the project delivery teams and operations manager, you'll help prepare estimates, tenders and submissions, and support the company's business development.

Key responsibilities

• Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications
• Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates
• Sourcing and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotes
• Preparing tender submissions, including schedules, methodologies and supporting documents
• Assisting with handover from tender to the delivery team
• Maintaining rates, pricing records and estimating data
• Keeping our project library current, including project details, photos and client references
• Maintaining our project example sheets, capability statements and staff CVs for use in tenders

About you

• Approximately 1–3 years' experience in estimating, tendering or a similar role in civil construction
• Experience with drainage, water and sewer works (highly desirable)
• Experience with estimating software such as Expert Estimation (highly desirable)
• Able to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers
• Driven, punctual, reliable and able to work to tight tender deadlines
• Organised, with the ability to manage several tenders at once
• Current driver's licence and full Australian working rights
