Job summary

Hidden are seeking a part-time Junior Estimator to assist with pricing post‑tensioning and reinforcement packages in the Sydney area. You will learn tendering processes, prepare measurements in Excel, and help with bids under senior guidance.

Ideal for someone early in construction estimating (1–3 years), able to read drawings, highly organized and a proactive communicator, with a desire to grow into an Estimator or Commercial role.

Qualifications

• Early-career in construction estimating, contracts, QS, engineering or similar (1–3 years of experience preferred).
• Able to read and interpret drawings.
• Highly organized and detail-focused.
• A proactive communicator with a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with quantity take-offs from structural and PT drawings.
• Preparing measurements and cost inputs in Excel/estimating software.
• Assisting with the preparation of tender submissions, BOQs and rates schedules.
• Preparing, submitting and following up quotations with Builders.
• Issuing and tracking RFIs.
• Updating and maintaining tender registers and pricing databases.

Job description

We provide steel fixing and post-tensioning services to reputable builders across the Sydney area. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a part-time Junior Estimator to assist with pricing PT and reinforcement packages and supporting our tendering function.

This role is ideal for someone early in their construction or estimating career who wants to build strong technical estimating skills in a specialist structural trade while maintaining a part-time work arrangement.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Estimator, you will primarily support the estimating function, including:

• Assisting with quantity take-offs from structural and PT drawings
• Preparing measurements and cost inputs in Excel/estimating software
• Assisting with the preparation of tender submissions, BOQs and rates schedules
• Preparing, submitting and following up quotations with Builders
• Issuing and tracking RFIs
• Updating and maintaining tender registers and pricing databases

You will also provide light post-tender and contract support under direction, such as assisting with documentation, progress claim preparation or variations when required. This support work is secondary to the estimating function and guided by senior staff.

This is a learning role with structured support. You will start with simpler tasks and increase responsibility as your capability grows.

About You

• Early-career in construction estimating, contracts, QS, engineering or similar (1–3 years of experience preferred)

Beneficial but not essential

• Exposure to reinforcement / PT / Formwork
• Studying or qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar
