Job summary

BlueScope Building Components’ Design Solutions Group seeks a Junior Design Engineer in Minchinbury to develop concept-level structural designs. You will work with a mentor to grow in steel and composite structures across diverse projects.

You’ll collaborate with national BDMs and senior engineers, producing calculations, drawings and documentation while adapting to project needs and timelines.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil or structural engineering and practical experience in building structures.
• Understanding of structural behaviour and engineering principles.
• Experience preparing structural calculations and documentation.
• Collaborative approach and clear communication with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept-level structural schemes from project briefs showing how products fit the design.
• Develop structural calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Investigate design problems and explore practical alternatives with the team.
• Use design tools including RAPT, Strand7, SpaceGass and Bluebeam in projects.
• Work with state-based engineers to clarify requirements and meet deadlines.
• Manage multiple design tasks across different stages with changing priorities.
