Job summary

Sydney Composites is seeking a Junior Composite Engineer to design, engineer and manufacture composite parts. The role involves CAD, simulations, and shop-floor activities including lamination, curing and finishing to bring concepts to finished components.

Ideal candidates are recent grads up to 2 years in design engineering with composites exposure, proficient in Fusion 360, SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and eager to learn in a hands-on environment across aerospace, automotive and defence applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Recent graduates up to 2 years' experience in design engineering, preferably in composites.
• Hands-on experience with composite layup or fabrication.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Comfortable working in a workshop environment with resins and carbon fibre.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with production staff.

Responsibilities

• Design composite components, tooling and structures in CAD.
• Run analyses such as FEA, stress calculations and laminate design, and support material testing.
• Prepare drawings, ply books, specifications and technical reports.
• Laminate parts with prepreg and wet/infusion processes, including ply cutting, layup, vacuum bagging and cure.
• Feed what you learn on the floor back into designs, and improve processes and techniques.
