Job summary

Custom Offroad Bash Plates in Brisbane is seeking a junior draftsperson to assist on the design and development of 4x4 and automotive products. You will create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings, learn 3D scanning, and help turn scans into usable CAD designs.

This casual role suits someone hands-on with SolidWorks, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for 4x4s and engineering. You’ll work with the team to produce manufacturable designs, draft manufacturing drawings, and grow your CAD skills

Junior Draftsperson – 4x4 Product Design

Casual Position | 4x4 & Automotive Industry

We are looking for a Junior Draftsperson to join our team on a casual basis, working on the design and development of 4x4 and automotive products.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for 4x4s, automotive products, CAD design and engineering, and wants to develop their skills in a hands-on product development environment.

About the Role

You will work alongside our team to assist with designing, developing and modifying 4x4 products and accessories.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Creating and modifying 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks

• Assisting with the design and development of new 4x4 products and accessories

• Making modifications to existing products and designs

• Preparing detailed manufacturing drawings

• Taking measurements from existing vehicles and components

• Assisting with 3D scanning of vehicles and components

• Learning how to turn 3D scans into usable CAD models

• Working with the team to develop practical, manufacturable designs

• Assisting with prototypes and product development

• Making design changes based on testing and real-world fitment

• Maintaining organised CAD files and drawings

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Junior or entry-level, with a genuine interest in developing their drafting and design skills

• Comfortable using SolidWorks

• Interested in learning 3D scanning and reverse engineering

• Passionate about 4x4s, cars and automotive products

• Able to read and understand technical drawings

• Practical and hands-on with a good understanding of how things are manufactured

• Attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work

• Able to work independently but also as part of a team

• Willing to learn and take on new skills

• Reliable, organised and has a good work ethic

Skills & Experience

Required:

• Experience using SolidWorks

• Basic understanding of 3D modelling and technical drawings

• Good computer skills

• Strong attention to detail

Highly regarded:

• Experience with 4x4s or automotive products

• Experience with 3D scanning

• Experience with reverse engineering

• Understanding of sheet metal, CNC, fabrication or manufacturing

• Experience designing brackets, mounts, accessories or similar products

• Mechanical or engineering studies/background

• This is an INHOUSE position in Rocklea Brisbane
