Job summary

Performance Suspension on the Gold Coast (Australia) is seeking a skilled 3D CAD Draftsman to bridge concept to production. You will expand existing designs, develop new products, and support manufacturing processes in a fast-paced design and engineering team.

You will primarily use Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and detailed drawings, collaborate with fabrication teams, and contribute to clear fitting guides and production documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and output detailed 3D drawings for new and existing 4x4 components.
• Produce accurate manufacturing drawings for machining, brake press, fabrication, and sheet metal work.
• Generate packing lists and internal production documents.
• Assist in the workshop with prototype fit testing on vehicles.
• Draft and refine product fitting guides for end-users and mechanics.
• Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize processes.

About the Role

Due to explosive growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a 3D CAD Draftsman to join our established design and engineering team. In this role, you will be the crucial link between concept and production. You will be expanding on existing designs, developing entirely new products, and refining our manufacturing processes. This is a dynamic role where your time will be split between precision 3D modelling and hands-on interaction with the fabrication and workshop teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize Autodesk Inventor to design, model, and output detailed 3D drawings for new and existing 4x4 components.
• Produce highly accurate manufacturing drawings for Machining, Brake press, Fabrication, and Sheet Metal work.
• Generate detailed Packing Lists and other essential internal production documents.
• Assist in the workshop with the physical test fitting of prototype parts to vehicles.
• Draft, write, and refine comprehensive Product Fitting Guides for end-users and mechanics.
• Collaborate closely with the wider design and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes.

What We Are Looking For

• Technical Expertise: Competent 3D CAD skills, specifically with Autodesk Inventor (extensive 3D Model Design and 3D Sketch CAD experience is essential).
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes is highly desirable.
• Automotive Passion: A genuine interest in the 4x4 and aftermarket automotive industry will set you apart.
• Attention to Detail: Proven accuracy and a meticulous approach to outputting detailed drawings.
