Job summary

The Salvation Army in Blackburn, VIC is seeking a Journalist - Editorial to join our publications team on a permanent part-time basis (22.8 hours/week). This role focuses on researching and writing content for TSA magazines, reports and online channels in line with our mission and values.

You will coordinate interviews, fact-check and secure releases, attend events, and perform proofreading to ensure accuracy across all publications.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience as a journalist or similar.
• Understanding of the print process.
• Tertiary qualifications in the media/communications (Bachelor of Arts or Communications and/or equivalent industry experience).
• Insight and understanding of The Salvation Army’s procedures and operations is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Gather news from corps, centres, divisions and THQ departments for inclusion in publications, reports, online and social media channels.
• Prepare all components for stories (eg. research ideas, interviews, fact checking, writing) for the magazines and associated online channels.
• Secure release forms for all subjects interviewed, photographed, filmed in support of content published.
• Attend events for reporting and information gathering for stories as required.
• Proofreading duties as part of the proofreading process – excellent attention to detail.
