Job summary

JobCubby is seeking a Java Tech Lead to own the Global Savings Service and lead a distributed engineering squad across a global platform. You will guide architecture, reliability, and data accuracy while mentoring engineers and promoting AI-assisted development practices.

This hands-on leadership role requires solving complex problems, coaching others in AI-augmented software development, and collaborating with product and business stakeholders across multiple time zones to deliver high-quality

• Take end-to-end ownership of the Global Savings Service, including architecture, reliability, and evolution.

• Translate complex requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation of technical decisions and domain knowledge.

About the Opportunity

Join Platform Services and take ownership of one of the business's most complex and commercially significant products, the Global Savings Service.

As a Java Tech Lead, you will lead a distributed engineering squad while driving the technical direction, reliability, and evolution of a platform that delivers critical savings insights to customers globally.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will solve challenging technical problems, mentor engineers, champion AI-assisted development practices, and influence the future of a key global product.

What you will do:

• Lead and mentor a distributed engineering squad, setting technical direction and maintaining a high engineering standard across the team
• Take end-to-end ownership of the Global Savings Service, including architecture, reliability, data accuracy, and ongoing platform evolution
• Act as the primary technical escalation point and ensure complex problems are investigated, solved, and documented effectively
• Navigate and integrate with complex SOAP and REST APIs across GDS providers and third-party vendors
• Interpret and reconcile fare and pricing data across multiple sources and formats, including ATPCO/EDIFACT, NDC, and GDS-specific structures
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear, scalable, and maintainable software solutions
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of technical decisions, business logic, and domain knowledge
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders across multiple time zones to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Champion AI-assisted engineering tools, including Claude Code, and coach the team on AI-augmented software development practices
• Partner with Platform Services leadership on roadmap planning, estimation, technical risk management, and delivery outcomes
• Drive adoption, reliability, and quality across the broader Platform Services product suite

What you will need:

• Proven experience as a Java Engineer with demonstrated technical leadership experience
• Strong architecture and system design capability with experience guiding technical decisions and reviewing engineering work
• Extensive experience working with SOAP and REST APIs, including complex third-party integrations
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex technical and business environments with ambiguous requirements
• Proficiency in at least one additional language such as Ruby, Elixir, or .NET
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, and a passion for coaching others in their adoption
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a range of audiences
• Proven experience documenting complex systems, decisions, and processes
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive outcomes and solve difficult problems
• Experience leading and supporting geographically distributed teams, including offshore consulting partners
• A natural curiosity and desire to understand complex systems, integrations, and business domains
