Job summary

Talent Corp is seeking an experienced Java/API Developer to join a major enterprise transformation program in Australia. You will design, code and deliver production-grade Java applications, focusing on APIs, microservices and event-driven systems at scale.

You'll work within an Agile engineering team using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka to build modern APIs and cloud-native services. This hands-on role suits engineers who want to stay coding and not move into pure architecture.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Java developer with commercial experience building APIs, microservices and cloud-native apps.
• Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture and AWS.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and containerisation is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java and Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Java / API Developer to join a major enterprise transformation program, building high-volume, mission-critical integration services that support millions of customer interactions.

This is a highly hands-on development role suited to an engineer who enjoys spending the majority of their time designing, coding, testing and delivering production-grade Java applications.

You'll work within an experienced Agile engineering team using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka to build modern APIs, microservices and event-driven applications at enterprise scale.

About the Role

As a Java / API Developer, you'll be responsible for the hands-on development and delivery of enterprise integration services.

You'll take solution designs and requirements through to working production code, developing new services and APIs, enhancing existing applications, troubleshooting technical issues and contributing to the ongoing improvement of the platform.

This role will particularly suit someone who is technically strong, still actively coding and wants to remain hands-on rather than move into a purely architecture position.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of Java and Spring Boot microservices
• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs
• Develop enterprise integration and event-driven services using Apache Kafka
• Write clean, maintainable and production-ready Java code
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications across AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)
• Develop automated unit, integration and API tests
• Debug and troubleshoot complex application and production issues
• Optimise application performance, reliability and scalability
• Work with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming and technical problem-solving
• Work closely with Solution Architects and other developers to translate designs into working software
• Contribute to engineering standards and development best practices
