Job summary

Vitalia's Italian Restaurant in Cairns is hiring an experienced Cook for a permanent, full-time role. You will prepare and present a range of Italian dishes, including pizzas and focacce, while maintaining quality and presentation.

Responsibilities include mise en place, stockrotation, and ensuring food safety standards throughout service. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of cooking experience, strong Italian cooking skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced kitchen

Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience as a Cook.
Strong cooking and food preparation skills, particularly in Italian cuisine.
Ability to work independently across kitchen sections in a fast-paced service environment.
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, stock rotation and kitchen procedures.
Strong teamwork, communication, organisation and time management skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and present a range of Italian dishes in accordance with Vitalia's recipes and quality standards.
Prepare ingredients and mise en place for lunch and dinner service.
Prepare and cook pizzas, focacce and other baked Italian products.
Monitor stock levels and rotate ingredients using FIFO procedures to maintain freshness.
Receive, inspect and store food deliveries in accordance with food safety requirements.
Maintain clean and organised kitchen workstations and equipment.
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.
