Job summary

WV Technologies is an IT decommissioning company delivering secure data sanitisation and asset management services in Canberra. The IT Technician will process ICT assets with a focus on security and accuracy, including data wiping, auditing, and secure collection from clients.

The role supports a casual, temporary engagement at an entry level, reporting to the Site Manager, with NV1 clearance desirable and a valid driver licence preferred.

Qualifications

• NV1 clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Manual Driver Licence preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Cert III in Information Technology or higher is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manual handling of IT assets and loading/unloading job lots.
• Receiving and sorting assets with asset tracking software.
• Data sanitisation using Blancco or equivalent; basic troubleshooting to enable wipe processes.
• Accurate data entry and asset inventorying with high accuracy.
• Auditing assets for specifications, functionality and cosmetic condition.
• Performing quality checks and ensuring zero data breaches during processing.
• Secure physical destruction of data-bearing devices.
• Process enterprise hardware to ensure complete data erasure.
• Secure collection of assets from client.

Job Purpose:

The IT Technician is a critical member of the WV Technologies operations team, responsible for processing a wide range of ICT assets with the highest standards of security and accuracy. This role ensures complete and efficient data sanitisation, accurate asset auditing, and logistical support through secure transportation and collection activities.

Success in this role will see you:

• Manual handling of IT assets, including loading and unloading job lots (ranging from small to large quantities).
• Receiving and sorting assets using Makor or equivalent asset tracking software.
• Data sanitisation using Blancco or equivalent software; basic troubleshooting to enable wipe processes.
• Accurate data entry and asset inventorying with 100% accuracy target.
• Auditing assets for specifications, functionality, and cosmetic condition.
• Performing quality checks and ensuring zero data breaches during processing.
• Secure physical destruction of data-bearing devices (e.g., hard drives, mobile phones).
• Processing enterprise-level hardware (e.g., servers, switches) to ensure complete data erasure
• Secure and safe collection of assets from client;
• Any other reasonable duties as seen fit by the employer to fulfil the role.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Baseline or NV1 clearance or willingness to get one
• Valid Manual Driver Licence is highly preferred but not mandatory
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Cert III in Information Technology or higher is desirable
