Job summary

Knight Piésold in Brisbane is seeking an IT Support Officer / CAD Drafter to join our collaborative team. The role splits time between hands-on IT support for multiple offices and producing engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Civil3D to support project teams.

You will support hardware, software, networks, administer Active Directory, and ensure drawings are accurate and compliant with drafting standards, working closely with engineers and other staff.

Qualifications

• Essential IT qualifications (IT Diploma or Cert) required.
• Essential drafting qualifications (Engineering Drafting) required.
• Proficient AutoCAD and Civil3D skills as well as SolidWorks knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT support to office-based and remote staff incl. hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
• Set up, configure and maintain workstations, laptops, printers and scanners.
• Administer user accounts, permissions and Active Directory; support IT projects and migrations.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Civil3D from sketches and notes.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure drawings are accurate and compliant with standards.
• Perform drawing quality checks and manage project archives per KP drafting standards.

The Role

In order to support our continued growth, we are seeking applications from an IT Support Officer / CAD Drafter to join a supportive, inclusive, friendly, and collaborative team in our Brisbane office.

This is a unique dual-capacity role where you will split your time between providing hands-on IT support to multiple offices and producing engineering drawings to support our project teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing IT support to office-based and remote staff, including hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
• Monitoring, triaging, and actioning tickets in the global IT support ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
• Setting up, configuring, and maintaining workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT hardware.
• Administering user accounts, permissions, and access across company systems and managing Active Directory.
• Assisting with IT projects, system upgrades, migrations, and rollouts, and contributing to future IT system development and process improvement initiatives.
• Producing and maintaining engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Civil3D, working from sketches, notes, and written and verbal descriptions.
• Working closely with engineers and project teams to ensure drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
• Performing drawing quality control checks and maintaining drawing registers and project archives in accordance with KP drafting standards.

Our Ideal Candidate

To excel in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or systems administration role, along with proficiency in AutoCAD design and drafting.

Ideally, you will also have:

• Formal IT qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma in Information Technology, or equivalent) - essential.
• Formal drafting or engineering qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma in Engineering Drafting, or equivalent) - essential.
• Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Windows, Word, Excel, and internet applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and switch effectively between IT support and drafting tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Scripting or programming skills for IT automation and process improvement - desirable.
• 1 to 3 years drafting experience preferred.
• Experience in an engineering or consultancy environment - desirable.
