Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Adelaide is seeking a Mechanical Cadet Drafter to join our growing Engineering team. This entry‑level role provides hands‑on experience across industrial, water, infrastructure and defence projects while learning from experienced engineers and designers.

You will be studying or have completed a Certificate IV, Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design & Drafting, with AutoCAD experience and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Be currently studying, or have completed a Certificate IV, Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design & Drafting, or a related discipline.
  • Have some experience using AutoCAD software.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in mechanical design and the practical application of technology.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Show initiative, enthusiasm, and a commitment to developing new skills.
  • Have strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Produce basic mechanical drawings and models using AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
  • Set up drawing files in accordance with company standards, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Extract and apply information from engineering specifications, standards, and supplier documentation.
  • Maintain electronic filing systems and document control for project deliverables.
  • Support engineers and senior designers with drafting and design tasks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to gain an understanding of engineering workflows and project delivery.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in on-the-job learning and development opportunities to build technical and professional skills.

We are seeking a Mechanical Cadet Drafter to join our growing Engineering team. This exciting entry-level opportunity will provide hands-on experience across industrial, water, infrastructure, and defence projects while learning from experienced engineers and designers.

This role is ideal for someone who is currently studying or has recently completed a qualification in Associate Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design and Drafting, or a related discipline and is keen to develop their technical drafting skills in a professional consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities
