Job summary

Hamilton Island Enterprises on Hamilton Island, QLD, is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Fitter to maintain a diverse fleet including buses, trucks, cranes and generating systems.

You’ll work in the on-island Vehicle Workshop, balancing a rewarding, long-term role with island living and a 9-day roster, surrounded by turquoise waters and palm trees. This position offers safety-first maintenance and career development in a unique resort environment.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised trade qualification and minimum 4 years’ post-trade experience.
• Hands-on experience with heavy vehicles including buses, trucks, cranes, earthmoving plant and generating equipment.
• HR driver’s licence and current manual driver’s licence (Essential).
• Ability to obtain and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• Forklift licence (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, servicing and repairing a variety of heavy vehicles and machinery to ensure ongoing operational readiness.
• Diagnosing faults and proactively preventing breakdowns to reduce downtime.
• Collaborating with a dedicated mechanical team that takes pride in high-quality, safety-first work.
