Job summary

Avant Mutual Group is seeking an experienced Investment Analyst within the Avant Investments team in Sydney. You will analyse and review investment strategies for portfolios, including SAA, DAA and manager/fund selection, build and maintain models, and mentor junior analysts.

You will support investment strategy reviews, provide analytical support to the broader team, and contribute to performance and risk reporting for leadership and the Board Investment Committee.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in finance or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years investment/finance related experience.
• Hands-on experience with financial analysis and quantitative modelling to support investment decision making covering SAA, DAA, portfolio management or manager selection.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of investment markets, asset class characteristics, portfolio construction and investment risk concepts.
• Attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative and curiosity.
• Demonstrated ability to influence constructively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis to support SAA, DAA and investment manager selection processes.
• Run, maintain and enhance internal models used to support SAA reviews, DAA tilts, manager and fund recommendations, and investment trades.
• Develop investment strategy recommendations for SAA, DAA and manager selection.
• Monitor and review managers for designated asset classes; set up regular meetings and resolve issues.
• Prepare performance and risk reports for management and Board committees; enhance reporting.
• Prepare high quality papers for the Board Investment Committee and senior management.
