As the Investigations and Communications Coordinator at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing security strategies that protect a diverse campus community. You'll lead investigations, manage high-profile events, and drive innovative crime prevention initiatives. This role offers you the opportunity to shape the university's security culture, influence policy decisions, and contribute to a safe environment for learning and research.



Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement crime prevention strategies to safeguard the university community and assets.

  • Investigations Management: Lead investigations into criminal activities on campus, liaising with law enforcement agencies as needed.

  • Event Security: Manage security arrangements for special events and VIP visits, ensuring safety while maintaining the university's reputation.

  • Training and Development: Prepare and deliver high-quality security training and awareness programs for university stakeholders.

  • Risk Analysis: Conduct security reviews and provide expert advice to mitigate risks and threats to safety.


You may be a great fit if:

You are a seasoned security professional with extensive experience in law enforcement or a similar field, possessing strong investigative skills and the ability to develop strategic security initiatives in a complex organisational environment.



You may also:

  • Have substantial experience in law enforcement or security management at a senior level.

  • Demonstrate expertise in criminal investigations, evidence gathering, and witness interviewing.

  • Show strong skills in risk analysis and security planning for major events.

  • Possess excellent communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders and delivering training.

  • Have experience in developing and implementing crime prevention strategies.

  • Show proficiency in analysing security data and preparing comprehensive reports.

  • Demonstrate leadership abilities in managing critical incidents and motivating teams.


  • Hold relevant qualifications in law enforcement or security (desirable).

  • Have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).

  • Be willing to undergo a police check if required.
