Job description

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Specialist to join our Supply Chain team in Henderson, Western Australia. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the right materials, equipment and inventory are available at the right place and at the right time to support maintenance activities, operational requirements and ongoing in-service support.

Working within a complex and dynamic defence environment, you will leverage your inventory management expertise to analyse demand requirements, investigate material shortages, optimise inventory holdings and drive supply chain performance. Partnering with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring material availability, minimising supply risks and supporting the successful delivery of critical programs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimise inventory levels to support operational and project requirements.
  • Analyse inventory performance and provide recommendations that improve project readiness and cost efficiency.
  • Review, release and manage material requisitions through procurement processes.
  • Coordinate the assignment and movement of materials across projects, funding controls and ASC locations.
  • Investigate supply discrepancies and develop effective material solutions.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Warehousing, Planning, Engineering, Production and Project teams to ensure inventory visibility and availability.
  • Identify inventory risks and ensure compliance with inventory governance frameworks and company policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory management processes, systems and performance.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in inventory management, supply chain or logistics within Defence, manufacturing, mining or another heavy industry environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory optimisation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis, reporting and inventory investigations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex operational environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues to a variety of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach and proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships across diverse teams.
Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.

  • Up to 10 days additional leave every year so you can rest and recharge.
  • Generous parental leave so you can give your family the focus it deserves.
  • Subsidised childcare to ease the financial pressure on your family.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives so you can perform at your best at work.
  • Professional development opportunities to advance your career.
  • A diverse and supportive environment where you can thrive.
