Job description

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As a Value Stream Integration Specialist, you will play a key role in driving productivity, delivery and operational performance improvements across core Collins Class sustainment value streams.

Working alongside operational leaders, subject matter experts and value stream stakeholders, you will identify constraints, dependencies, opportunities and performance levers across the value stream, facilitate stakeholder engagement and problem-solving activities, and support the planning and implementation of initiatives that improve value stream performance.

This role combines systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, analytics, structured problem solving and practical implementation to improve performance across the end-to-end maintenance value stream. Working across organisational boundaries, you will help connect people, priorities and activities to resolve constraints, improve flow and support sustainable operational outcomes.

Success in the role will depend on your ability to build credibility, influence senior stakeholders, align diverse perspectives and drive action across organisational boundaries without direct authority.

This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity for a period of two years, based at our Osborne site in South Australia or our Henderson site in Western Australia.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify, analyse, plan and implement initiatives that improve value stream performance, productivity and operational outcomes.
  • Support the implementation, adoption and sustainment of new ways of working that improve value stream throughput, performance and strengthens operational capability.
  • Apply systems thinking to understand end-to-end operations, identify constraints and develop practical solutions that improve flow and efficiency.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder forums and problem-solving sessions to address challenges, remove barriers and improve end-to-end value stream performance.
  • Translate improvement opportunities into actionable implementation plans, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Monitor progress against agreed milestones, risks, dependencies and benefits to support the successful delivery of improvement initiatives.
  • Support capability development through knowledge transfer, practical application and collaboration with operational teams, building confidence and ownership of value stream practices.
  • Foster strong relationships across the business to share lessons learned, improve alignment across organisational boundaries, and embed effective practices that strengthen value stream performance and operational excellence.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience working in engineering, production, maintenance, planning, supply chain, project delivery, business transformation, continuous improvement or similarly complex operational environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data, performance metrics and insights to identify opportunities and drive business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing implementation plans and coordinating priorities, activities and dependencies across multiple stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and stakeholders, build commitment and support the adoption of new ways of working.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • The ability to thrive in complex, cross-functional environments, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on delivery.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the initiative to identify opportunities, overcome challenges and achieve results.
  • High levels of curiosity, learning agility and a commitment to capability development and improving operational performance.
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Supply Chain Operations, Change Management, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

We welcome applications from individuals who have worked in complex operational environments and have experience working across organisational boundaries to improve forecasting, planning, coordination, delivery and operational performance. Experience in defence, manufacturing, mining, logistics, supply chain, engineering, consulting or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong systems thinking, stakeholder influence, structured problem-solving capability and a track record of translating analysis into practical business outcomes. The ability to understand how multiple functions interact within a broader operational system and to bring people together around shared outcomes will be highly valued.
