Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council invites tertiary students and recent graduates to join the My Summer Workplace program, a 12-week paid internship from Nov 2026 to Feb 2027. The role of Intern - Marketing offers hands-on experience across marketing and communications while contributing to real projects.

You'll work four days per week (28 hours) across various campaigns, publish content, assist campaigns, and analyse performance data. Note there is a Christmas 2-week unpaid break during this period.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a tertiary course or recently graduated within 12 months.
• Available to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026.
• Australian working rights: permanent resident or visa with unrestricted rights.

About My Summer Workplace

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career.

Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About this Internship

As the Intern - Marketing, you'll gain valuable hands‑on experience across a broad range of marketing and communications activities while working alongside experienced professionals. This developmental role offers the opportunity to contribute to real projects, support marketing campaigns, create engaging content, and develop practical skills in digital marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination. It's an exciting opportunity to build your portfolio while making a positive impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with creating and publishing content across social media, websites, and digital channels.
• Support the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns and community engagement activities.
• Draft and edit content for newsletters, articles, promotional materials, and digital platforms.
• Collect and analyse marketing and digital performance data to help improve audience engagement.

About you:

• Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
• Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
• Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
• Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
• Possess Australian working rights:
• Permanent Resident
• Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
