Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council invites applications for the My Summer Workplace, a 12-week paid internship program in Maroochydore. You will support procurement and contracts activities, gaining hands-on experience while working four days per week over the summer.

Open to tertiary students or recent graduates; the program runs November 2026 to February 2027 with a 2-week unpaid break during Christmas. Location is Maroochydore, 28 hours per week, paid at $309.12 per day.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
  • Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
  • Possess Australian working rights: Citizen, Permanent Resident, or current valid visa with unrestricted rights for duration of program

Responsibilities

  • Support contract and procurement activities across a range of projects.
  • Maintain contract records, documentation and supplier information.
  • Assist with contract-related financial administration and reporting.
  • Contribute to system improvement and process enhancement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain contract, supplier and financial reports.
  • Support governance, compliance and policy adherence activities.
  • Provide administrative and project support to achieve team objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and operational outcomes

About My Summer Workplace

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career.

Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About this Internship

Kick-start your career in procurement and contracts with Sunshine Coast Council. As an Intern in our Contracts and Supply Services team, you'll gain hands‑on experience supporting procurement, contract management and supplier activities that help deliver essential services to our community. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll contribute to meaningful projects, develop valuable business and financial administration skills, and gain exposure to governance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives within a large and diverse organisation.

About you:

To be eligible for My Summer Workplace, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
  • Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
  • Possess Australian working rights:
    • Citizen (AU/NZ)
    • Permanent Resident
    • Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
