Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council is offering a 12-week paid internship position as Intern – Data and Analytics. Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will work four days per week during the 12-week period, with a 2-week unpaid break over Christmas.

You will be mentored by industry professionals and gain hands-on experience in data management and analytics. Eligibility includes being enrolled in a tertiary course (or recently graduated within 12 months) or having completed a TAFE

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or have recently graduated from university within 12 months, or have recently completed a TAFE Diploma within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving data pipelines.
• Support data-related projects and analytics activities across the team.
• Contribute to data engineering initiatives and operational business activities.
• Help deliver data solutions and support the ongoing management of enterprise data processes.

Education

Enrolled in a tertiary course (16+ subjects) or recently graduated within 12 months

TAFE Diploma completed within 12 months

Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About This Internship As the Intern – Data and Analytics, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to support data engineering and analytics initiatives across Council. This is an exciting opportunity to develop practical skills in data management, data pipelines, and enterprise data platforms while contributing to projects that help drive informed decision-making and improved community outcomes. You'll gain valuable industry experience, build your professional network, and apply your studies in a real-world environment.

About You

• Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
• Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
• Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
• Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
• Possess Australian working rights:
• Citizen (AU/NZ)
• Permanent Resident
• Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
