MGI Parkinson in Subiaco is seeking an Intermediate Accountant with about 2 years in public practice to join our growing team. You’ll work on taxation and compliance and gain hands-on exposure from day one, with structured mentoring and clear pathways to advance your career.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare Financial Statements and Tax Returns for Companies, Trusts and Partnerships.
• Prepare Income Tax Returns for Individuals, including Sole Traders.
• Learn tax planning strategies with senior team members.
• Ensure compliance with current tax legislation and regulations.
• Assist with ad hoc advisory work like cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
• Develop client-facing relationships as you grow.

We're looking for an Intermediate Accountant (with approximately 2 years' experience) to join our growing team. What you'll be doing

You’ll work alongside experienced accountants to support our clients with their taxation and compliance obligations, while building the technical foundation for a long and successful career in public practice.

Your day-to-day will include (but isn't limited to):

• Assisting with the preparation of Financial Statements and Tax Returns for Companies, Trusts and Partnerships
• Preparing Income Tax Returns for Individuals, including Sole Traders and family business groups
• Learning the ropes of tax planning strategies alongside senior team members
• Working closely with colleagues to make sure everything complies with current tax legislation and regulations
• Getting involved in ad hoc advisory work — think cash flow forecasting, budgeting and business performance insights
• Building your client-facing skills and starting to develop your own professional relationships

About you

• A completed degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related field
• 2 years' experience in a public practice accounting firm
• Genuinely curious about tax, business and how companies operate — you ask “why”, not just “how”
• Comfortable working independently but you also love being part of a team that has your back
• Confident communicator, keen to build real relationships with clients and colleagues alike
• A proactive, can‑do attitude — you look for ways to add value rather than waiting to be told
• Strong research skills and the drive to dig into technical problems until you understand them
• Ambitious and career‑minded, with your sights set on where this role can take you
