Job summary

Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) in Docklands, Melbourne, is seeking an Interim Chief Executive Officer for a six-month fixed-term appointment. The CEO will lead the regulator through a critical reform period, overseeing regulatory functions and delivering strategic priorities.

The role requires executive leadership in a statutory authority, with governance, risk management and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

Executive leadership experience in a statutory authority, regulator, government agency or similarly complex organisation.
Governance, risk management and public accountability expertise.
Experience working effectively with Boards, Ministers and senior government stakeholders.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
Strong financial, operational and people leadership capability.
Experience in regulatory, education, health, or public sector environments is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Lead the continuity of delivery of VIT's strategic priorities and organisational objectives.
Oversee VIT's statutory functions, including teacher registration, professional conduct and accreditation of initial teacher education programs.
Provide high-quality strategic advice and support to the Council.
Manage stakeholder relationships across government, education, regulatory and community sectors.
Maintain financial sustainability and prudent stewardship of public resources.
Protect and enhance VIT's reputation as a trusted and contemporary regulator.
