Job summary

Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) in Melbourne is seeking an Interim Chief Executive Officer for a six-month fixed-term appointment. The CEO leads the regulator's strategic, regulatory and operational functions, reporting to the Council through the Chair.

The successful candidate will provide visible leadership, maintain continuity of operations and advance priorities across governance, compliance, education and public safety contexts.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a statutory authority or government agency.
• Strong governance, risk management and public accountability expertise.
• Proven ability to work with Boards and Ministers.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Financial, operational and people leadership capabilities.
• Credibility to operate in a high-profile public environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead continuity of delivery of strategic priorities and objectives.
• Oversee statutory functions including teacher registration and professional conduct.
• Provide strategic advice and support to the Council.
• Manage relationships across government, education, regulatory and community sectors.
• Maintain financial sustainability and prudent stewardship of public resources.
• Protect and enhance VIT's reputation as a trusted regulator.
