Job summary

George Weston Foods is seeking an Intake Operator to coordinate grain and meal receivals across the site, handling road and rail movements. You’ll manage inventory, perform sampling and testing, and ensure accurate SAP transactions while supporting safety and quality standards.

The role requires experience in manufacturing and grain handling, with forklift certification and rail interface training being highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, grain handling, agriculture, warehousing or logistics.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence using computer systems, including SAP and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to follow processes and work independently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.
• Current Forklift Licence (highly regarded).
• Completed Rail Interface Training or willing to complete.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing raw material deliveries by truck and rail.
• Coordinating rail interface activities, including approximately 2-3 train receivals per week.
• Sampling, testing, and assessing incoming grains and meals.
• Monitoring and measuring storage bins and inventory levels.
• Managing grain transfers and silo allocations.
• Operating and monitoring SCADA and PLC-controlled systems.
• Processing receival and inventory transactions through SAP.
• Maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets.
• Working closely with Operations, Quality, Logistics and Maintenance teams.
• Supporting site safety, housekeeping, and food safety standards.

About the Role
