Job summary

South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Intake, Carer Recruitment and Support Worker to recruit, assess and support Foster Carers ensuring safe, nurturing placements for children and young people in care. The role includes maintaining timely records and reports and collaborating with stakeholders across Aboriginal communities.

Salary will align with SCMSAC Enterprise Agreement. The role requires WWCC, relevant checks and a NSW Driver’s Licence, with potential for ongoing

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services or related fields, or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency in report writing and ability to develop, organise and maintain records and reports in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and clinical record/data management systems.
• Knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families, and children—specifically in OOHC placements.
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders, funding bodies and other agencies.
• Knowledge of NSW Children’s Guardian OOHC Standards and accreditation processes.
• Willingness to consent to probity information entered on Residential Care Workers Register.
• Current WWCC, Working with Vulnerable People Registration and National Police Check.
• Current Driver’s Licence.

South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, providing Health and Wellbeing and relevant services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Shoalhaven area.

THE ROLE

The Intake, Carer Recruitment and Support Worker recruits, assesses and supports Foster Carers to maintain safe, nurturing placements that meets the needs of CYPs in their care.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Minimum Cert IV in Community Services or related fields, or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency in report writing and demonstrated ability to develop, organise and maintain records and reports in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency, including the use of all Microsoft Office applications, clinical record and data management systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children - specifically regarding the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care.
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders, including funding bodies, peak bodies and other agencies.
• Current knowledge of the NSW Children’s Guardian OOHC Standards and accreditation processes.
• Willingness to consent to have probity information entered onto the Residential Care Workers Register
• Current Working with Children Check, Working with Vulnerable People Registration and National Police Check.
• Current Driver’s Licence.

Preferred applicants will also be required to undergo a National Police Check and obtain a new paid employee Working with Children Check (as required by the Act) prior to appointment with South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation.

Salary will be in accordance with the South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation Enterprise Agreement.
