Job summary

Colin Biggers & Paisley in Sydney or Melbourne invites applications for an Insurance Solicitor or Associate to join our multidisciplinary insurance team. You will provide clients with timely legal advice, review case law, conduct research, and manage a heavy workload while developing client relationships.

With 2-4 years PQE and a practical, client-focused approach, you will contribute to policy work and front-end matters.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years' PQE in insurance or general litigation is preferred.
• Ability to manage large volumes of documents and meet deadlines.
• Strong client-focused problem-solving and research skills.
• Proactive in developing client relationships and business opportunities.

About the team:

Mathisha (Tish) Panagoda is a partner in the insurance team and works within Colin Biggers & Paisley's national Institutional Risk and Liability group. His practice is focussed on child safety, general liability and special issues managing civil and National Redress Scheme claims of historical child abuse and working with organisations to ensure robust child protection policies and procedures, manage investigations and provide strategic advice on a range of sensitive issues.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor or Associate to join a supportive and high performing team. The role will require:

• Providing clients with legal advice
• Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes
• Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice
• Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively
• Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy
• Managing prospective client relationships
• Working collaboratively within a team
• Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements
• The role can be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office, and you will work across both jurisdictions
• Not just working on claims, but also being involved with front end policy work

About you:

• 2-4 years' PQE
• A desire to be an integral member of a strong and cohesive team who work collaboratively
• Ability to manage large volumes of documents
• Strong attention to detail
• Practical and client focused problem solving and research skills
• Previous exposure to business development and a natural ability to build strong client relationships
