Job summary

Colin Biggers & Paisley in Sydney invites an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Insurance Team within the national Institutional Risk and Liability group. The role supports clients with legal advice and works across NSW and VIC jurisdictions.

You will review case law, conduct research, manage workloads, develop client understanding, and contribute to business development. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, you will help shape policy work and deliver commercially-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' PQE in insurance, corporate, or related practice.
• Ability to manage large volumes of documents.
• Strong client-focused problem-solving and research skills.
• Experience in business development and building client relationships.
• Willingness to work across NSW and VIC jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Providing clients with legal advice.
• Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes.
• Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice.
• Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively.
• Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy.
• Managing prospective client relationships.
• Working collaboratively within a team.
• Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements.
• The role can be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office, and you will work across both jurisdictions.
• Not just working on claims, but also being involved with front end policy work.

About the team

Mathisha (Tish) Panagoda is a partner in the insurance team and works within Colin Biggers & Paisley's national Institutional Risk and Liability group. His practice is focussed on child safety, general liability and special issues managing civil and National Redress Scheme claims of historical child abuse and working with organisations to ensure robust child protection policies and procedures, manage investigations and provide strategic advice on a range of sensitive issues.
