Job summary

Colin Biggers & Paisley in Sydney is seeking an Insurance Associate or Senior Associate to join our leading insurance team. The role reports to a partner with over 30 years of experience and focuses on providing clients with legal advice and handling professional indemnity matters.

You will review case law, undertake rigorous legal research, manage a robust workload, develop client relationships and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' PQE with experience in professional indemnity matters.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and BD experience.
• Ability to run matters autonomously and manage client expectations.
• Strong commercial acumen and practical, client‑focused problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients with legal advice.
• Review applicable case law and legislative changes regularly.
• Conduct effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice.
• Manage a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively.
• Develop an understanding of client operations and strategy; manage prospective client relationships.
• Continual professional development and MCLE requirements.

About the role:

• Reporting into Patrick Boardman, who has over 30 years' experience in international insurance litigation
• Providing clients with legal advice
• Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes
• Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice
• Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively
• Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy
• Managing prospective client relationships
• Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements

The successful candidate:

• 4+ years' PQE and must have experience in professional indemnity matters
• Previous exposure to business development and a natural ability to build strong client relationships
• Ability to manage client expectations and run matters autonomously
• Interested in establishing a long-term successful career with Colin Biggers & Paisley
• Ability to relate to people at all levels and effectively work in a team
