Western District Health Service is seeking motivated and reliable Instrument Technicians to join our Operating Suite team on a casual basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive multidisciplinary team responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices and instrumentation that are critical to the safe delivery of surgical and clinical services. Whether you are an experienced Instrument Technician or looking to further a career in sterilisation, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct contribution to patient safety and quality care.
Working within established policies, procedures and national standards, you will help ensure the effective operation of the Operating Suite while supporting continuous improvement and best practice sterilisation services.
Process reusable medical devices and equipment through decontamination, cleaning, inspection, packaging, sterilisation, storage and distribution processes in accordance with AS 5369 standards and WDHS requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation and monitoring records, identify equipment faults or process deviations and support quality improvement activities that contribute to safe and effective patient care.
Work closely with Operating Suite staff and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure instruments and equipment are available when required and customer needs are met efficiently.
Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain contemporary knowledge of sterilisation practices and industry standards.
Assist in the supervision, training and mentoring of other Instrument Technicians and contribute to the effective functioning of the department.
