Job summary

Maptek in Adelaide is seeking an Instrument Technician to assemble, calibrate and service laser scanning systems. You will work with opto-mechanical modules, diagnose faults with electronic test equipment and read complex drawings to ensure high-quality performance.

The role requires hands-on electronics assembly, soldering and precision alignment in a collaborative team environment. Applicants should have a technical electronics qualification, the ability to lift 30 kg, and strong communication

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to lift at least 30kg in accordance with safe work practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or as a team.
  • A relevant technical or vocational qualification in electronics, instrumentation, electronic assembly or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
  • Competent in the fine assembly and integration of complex systems incorporating electronic, optical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Good soldering skills and experience working with electronic components and printed circuit boards.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment and computer-controlled test systems.
  • Strong analytical, fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform detailed precision work.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a methodical approach and commitment to quality outcomes.
  • Experience with laser-based systems and precision optical components is highly desirable; and
  • Knowledge of Sage X3 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble and service opto-mechanical modules and scanner systems;
  • Configure, align, test and calibrate scanner systems and associated modules;
  • Configure, test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies;
  • Diagnose faults using electronic test equipment, specialised software and established test procedures;
  • Repair, rebuild and verify modules and systems to required performance and quality standards;
  • Complete soldering and electronic component rework where required;
  • Follow standard operating procedures and assist Manufacturing and Engineering teams with technical investigations.

We are looking for a skilled and practicalInstrument Technicianto join our Adelaide team. In this hands-on role, you will assemble, configure, calibrate, test, diagnose, repair and service Maptek laser scanning systems and related products. Working with precision electronic, optical and mechanical components, you will use specialised test equipment and computer-based systems to ensure products meet established quality and performance standards.
