Job summary

Clough Ltd. is seeking a Quality Inspector for the Future Generation Joint Venture in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW.

You will verify construction activities against approved drawings, specifications and ITPS, attend inspections, witness testing and record results on site. Key tasks include capturing quality records, tracking NCRs, coordinating with the Quality Coordinator and site supervisor, and ensuring defects are addressed promptly.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or related discipline required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role preferred.
• Experience on large-scale construction projects or similar works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Proficiency with project documentation systems and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quality inspections on site and subcontractors’ worksites to ensure conformity with ITPs and drawings.
• Collect work lot and quality records.
• Verify and record implementation of corrective actions for NCRs.
• Manage defects and coordinate with relevant teams.
• Review with Quality Coordinator on surveillance and inspection matters.
• Communicate and resolve quality issues with site supervisor.
• Maintain Quality Inspector diary.

Job description

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The role of the Quality Inspector is to ensure and verify that construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and documented procedures. This role involves attending inspections, witnessing testing activities, and conducting surveillance of activities to ensure compliance with the project specification.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or related discipline

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the construction industry in a similar role is preferred
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
• A keen eye for identifying defects and deviations
• Understanding of Quality control standards and testing methodologies
• Effective communication skills to report findings and collaborate with teams
• Familiar with the specific industry standard and practices
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Proficiency with Aconex, GLAASS and electronic document management system
• Sound knowledge of construction materials and related specifications
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
• Strong initiative and proactive nature
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Well-developed time management skills
• High attention to detail

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Undertake quality inspections on site and subcontractors’ worksites to ensure conformity with the relevant inspection and test plans (ITPs) and drawings.
• Collect work lot and quality records.
• Verify and record the implementation of corrective actions for identified non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Manage any occurring defects.
• Review and consult with the Quality Coordinator on matters of surveillance and inspection, including subcontracted works.
• Communicate and resolve any construction quality issues proactively with the relevant site supervisor.
• Fill and populate Quality Inspector diary.
