InSAR Geoscience Consultant for Mining & Geotech

Job summary

SkyGeo is seeking a Geoscience Consultant in Australia to help customers implement InSAR data into geotechnical and operational practices. You will work with geotechnical engineers, geologists and other experts to translate complex deformation data into actionable insights for mining operations.

You will collaborate with SkyGeo's InSAR Engineers and Data Analytics team, develop compelling visualizations, and support the Sales process while visiting sites across the Asia-Pacific region.

Qualifications

• MSc or equivalent in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Surveying or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the mining industry.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical or geological challenges within operational mining environments.
• Experience working directly with technical customers, engineering teams and other domain experts.
• Ability to combine and interpret different datasets in the context of geology, geotechnical performance and operations.
• Experience with GIS and relevant technical or geoscience software.
• Experience with remote sensing, surveying or monitoring methods is a plus - InSAR essentials will be taught.
• Strong technical communication and visualization skills.
• Willingness to travel within the Asia-Pacific region.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with geoscience and engineering teams to integrate InSAR into monitoring and decision-making practices.
• Interpret deformation patterns in mining contexts.
• Combine InSAR observations with GIS, monitoring, geological and other datasets.
• Configure, understand and optimize SkyGeo data feeds for projects you own.
• Develop technical visualizations including maps, graphs, cross-sections and animations.
• Support Sales during technically complex opportunities and discussions.
• Collaborate with InSAR Engineers and Data Analytics to ensure data meets application needs.
• Visit customer sites across the Asia-Pacific region.
• Represent SkyGeo's technical expertise at industry events and conferences.
• Learn about new technologies and develop new InSAR applications.
