Job summary

Change Recruitment is partnering with a growing data centre and infrastructure business to recruit an experienced Project Manager in Sydney. You will lead end-to-end delivery of complex data centre and technology infrastructure projects, coordinating planning, procurement, construction, testing and handover while managing budgets and risks.

The role offers flexibility to join permanently or on a contract basis, with interstate travel as projects progress and close collaboration with engineering

Qualifications

• Critical power and cooling infrastructure knowledge.
• Rack, cabling and network infrastructure familiarity.
• Compute and storage deployments experience.

• Coordinate multiple infrastructure and engineering workstreams.
• Manage vendors, contractors, suppliers and other delivery partners.
• Oversee procurement and delivery of long-lead infrastructure and equipment.
• Manage sequencing across power, cooling, network and technology infrastructure.
• Drive project cadence, reporting, issue resolution and change control.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning and acceptance activities.
• Manage operational readiness and handover into BAU teams.
• Identify delivery risks early and drive decisions to keep projects on track.

Job description

I’m working with a growing infrastructure business looking for an experienced Project Manager to deliver complex data centre and technology infrastructure projects.

They’re open to someone joining permanently or on a contract basis, depending on experience and preference.

This is an end-to-end delivery role sitting across both the physical data centre environment and the technology infrastructure being deployed within it.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams, vendors and contractors to take projects from initial planning and design through procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and operational handover.

The environment brings together multiple technical workstreams including critical power, cooling, networking, storage and compute, so they’re looking for someone who understands the dependencies between each area and can keep the overall program moving.

What they’re looking for:

You’ll need experience delivering large-scale or technically complex infrastructure projects, ideally within data centres or other mission-critical environments.

They’re particularly interested in experience across:

• Data centre construction, fit-out or capacity expansion
• Critical power and cooling infrastructure
• Rack, cabling and network infrastructure
• Compute and storage deployments
• Testing, commissioning and operational handover

Experience delivering high-density compute, GPU/HPC infrastructure, advanced cooling or other emerging data centre technologies would be particularly relevant.

This isn’t a PMO or governance-heavy position. They’re looking for someone who has been close to the actual infrastructure, understands how the different workstreams come together and is comfortable challenging vendors and technical stakeholders when required.

You don’t need to be the engineer installing the infrastructure yourself, but you should be technically credible enough to understand what’s happening, ask the right questions and manage dependencies across the wider build
