Job summary

Port Macquarie Hastings Council is seeking a Group Manager for Infrastructure Planning and Design. You will lead a 25-person professional team and sit on the Community Infrastructure Division's leadership group, guiding strategy and day-to-day operations.

You will oversee services across transport, water-related assets, parks, recreation facilities and public buildings, ensuring compliance, budget discipline, and a culture of safety and excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Engineering, Planning, or related field.
• Senior leadership experience including coaching and developing teams.
• Extensive experience in strategic infrastructure planning, asset management, or related fields.
• Strong oral and written communication with stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Infrastructure Planning and Design Group.
• Provide oversight to transport, stormwater, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and safety standards; promote safety-first culture.
• Manage service delivery within budgetary constraints.
• Foster excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement in community infrastructure.
