Job summary

Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) seeks an Infrastructure Engineer for Platform & Infrastructure in Sydney. The role covers on-premise compute fleets, edge clusters, and Kubernetes orchestration across physical hardware.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in infrastructure, network or platform engineering with bare-metal work.
• Deep Ansible experience with idempotent design and testing.
• Solid layer-2/3 networking: VLANs, routing, firewall policies.
• Strong Linux systems administration and scripting (Bash, Python).
• Infrastructure-as-code beyond config management and Git workflows.
• Production Kubernetes experience, preferably on hardware.
• Bare-metal provisioning tools: MaaS, Metal3, OpenStack Ironic, Tinkerbell.
• Firmware/BMC management via IPMI or Redfish.
• DNS, DHCP, NTP in production environments.
• Capacity planning and incident-focused troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own bare-metal cluster fleets end to end: racking, cabling, provisioning, lifecycle management.
• Design and operate network infrastructure: VLANs, routing, segmentation, firewall policies, high-speed fabrics.
• Drive all infra via Ansible and IaC for repeatable builds.
• Build automated provisioning pipelines from power-on to validated clusters.
• Run and maintain Kubernetes across hardware, with CNI and storage integration.
• Operate core network services: DNS, DHCP, NTP, PXE, certificates.
• Support firmware, BIOS, and BMC tuning; ensure PCIe topology and NUMA alignment.
• Document architecture and procedures for repeatability and auditability.
• Plan capacity, power, cooling, and rack layout with facilities and procurement.
• Respond to incidents and maintain monitoring/telemetry.
