Downer is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to provide specialist guidance across facilities, civil works and estate upgrades within the Defence sector. The role sits in Downer Professional Services, delivering complex defence projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

You will review designs, reports and drawings, ensure compliance with Defence policies, and engage with stakeholders to enable successful delivery and integration across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Chartered professional engineer certification or equivalent.
• Engineering degree in Civil / Infrastructure / Electrical.
• Experience working on Defence facilities projects.
• ASEFCON Suite experience.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist engineering advice on facilities and infrastructure works related to JP9101.
• Review infrastructure designs, technical reports, drawings and specifications from stakeholders.
• Ensure designs are fit for purpose and releasable to Prime Contractor for delivery and integration.
• Conduct technical reviews of refurbishments, fixed plant replacements, and utility upgrades.
• Assess requirements and solutions to align with project objectives and Defence estate rules.
• Support feasibility, design development and technical investigations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, codes, and Defence policies.
• Engage with Defence stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to support outcomes.

We are hiring an Infrastructure Engineer who will provide technical expertise across facilities, civil works and estate upgrades.

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Provide specialist engineering advice on facilities and infrastructure works associated with JP9101, including building services, civil infrastructure, and estate upgrades.
• Review and assess infrastructure designs, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation prepared by SEG, CFI, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure facilities and infrastructure designs are fit for purpose and suitable for release to the Prime Contractor for delivery and integration activities.
• Conduct technical reviews of building refurbishments, compliance works, fixed plant replacement projects, demolition activities (if any), minor construction works, and utility infrastructure upgrades.
• Review requirements, assumptions, and technical solutions to ensure alignment with project objectives, site constraints, and Defence estate requirements.
• Support infrastructure planning activities, including feasibility assessments, design development, and technical investigations.
• Review engineering documentation and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, codes, standards, Defence policies, and project requirements.
• Engage with Defence Security Estate Group, Defence stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to support effective project outcomes.

What You'll Bring

• Hold a Chartered Professional Engineer certification of a registered Professional Engineering Body (such as Engineers Australia) equivalent or be able to attain chartered status.
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Infrastructure, Electrical or other relevant engineering discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in facilities and infrastructure Defence projects.
• ASEFCON Suite Experience.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
