Job summary

Vertali APAC Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer for a hands-on, enterprise-scale role in Melbourne, VIC. You will translate designs into production-ready infrastructure across Windows Server, Linux, VMware, storage and identity services, delivering secure and highly available platforms for a large environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong Windows Server administration across 2016, 2019, 2022+ environments.
• Experience with Linux platforms (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Solid VMware vSphere administration experience.
• Experience with Active Directory and enterprise identity services.
• Knowledge of storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies.

Job Description

Build and Deliver Enterprise Infrastructure at Scale

Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing technology delivery team responsible for implementing and enhancing critical enterprise infrastructure platforms.

This is a hands-on project delivery role where you will design, build, configure, test and implement enterprise infrastructure solutions across Windows Server, Linux, VMware, storage, backup, identity and automation technologies.

Working alongside architects, project managers, cyber security specialists, network engineers and vendors, you will play a key role in delivering secure, resilient and highly available technology platforms that support a large and complex operational environment.

About the Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for translating approved solution designs into production-ready infrastructure, ensuring platforms are configured to enterprise standards and successfully transitioned into operational support.

You will contribute to major infrastructure initiatives including platform upgrades, migrations, lifecycle refreshes, automation improvements and high-availability solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Delivery & Implementation

• Build, configure and deploy enterprise infrastructure solutions from approved technical designs.
• Deliver server, virtualization, storage, backup and identity platform implementations.
• Configure and support Windows Server and Linux operating environments.
• Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations and lifecycle refresh activities.
• Implement security hardening, configuration standards and platform optimisation initiatives.

VMware & Virtualisation

• Deploy and administer VMware vSphere environments.
• Configure and support ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, HA and vSAN technologies.
• Implement resilient and scalable virtual infrastructure solutions.
• Support enterprise storage integration and platform performance optimisation.

Identity & Core Infrastructure Services

• Configure and support:
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Hybrid Identity)
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • Group Policy
  • PKI and authentication services

High Availability & Resilience

• Design and implement highly available infrastructure platforms.
• Deploy Windows Server Failover Clustering solutions.
• Support SQL Always On Availability Groups and clustered application environments.
• Participate in disaster recovery validation, failover testing and recovery planning activities.

Infrastructure Automation

• Develop and enhance infrastructure automation using:
  • PowerShell
  • Ansible
  • Infrastructure-as-Code principles
• Identify opportunities to improve deployment efficiency and standardisation.
• Maintain build standards, automation scripts and configuration artefacts using Git-based version control.

Documentation & Handover

• Produce implementation documentation, build guides and technical standards.
• Create test evidence, rollback procedures and operational runbooks.
• Ensure successful transition of solutions into BAU support teams.

About You

You are a technically strong Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys delivering complex enterprise technology projects and solving challenging technical problems.

You will bring:

• 5+ years' experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering.
• Strong Windows Server administration experience across Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and newer environments.
• Experience supporting Linux platforms including Red Hat, CentOS and Ubuntu.
• Strong VMware vSphere administration experience.
• Experience with Active Directory, Entra ID and enterprise identity services.
• Knowledge of storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience working within project delivery environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and documentation skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.

Highly Desirable Skills

• VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, DRS, HA and vSAN.
• Windows Server Failover Clustering.
• SQL Always On Availability Groups.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Ansible automation.
