Job summary

IT Alliance Australia is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at the EL1 level for a long-term contractual role based in Canberra. The position requires on-site work for an initial 3 months with broader deployment across programs.

You will provide technical leadership across Windows Server, Active Directory, SCCM/Hyper-V/SCOM, and data centre networking, with focus on secure gateways, storage fabrics and cross-platform server environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory and core Microsoft technologies.
• Hands-on with SCCM, Hyper-V/SCOM, and Exchange administration.
• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, routing/switching (Cisco preferred).
• Experience with firewalls/load balancers (Palo Alto, Fortigate, F5 desirable).
• Data centre design, migration and implementation across multi-site environments.
• Experience with x86 Windows/Linux and IBM P-Series/AIX/Linux.
• Data centre networks, storage fabrics and enterprise storage.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade Virtual Service Environment (VSE) environments and servers.
• Plan, design, develop, test and maintain new/existing virtual services per guidelines.
• Configure and deploy virtual services and servers per application owner requirements.
• Lead analysis, planning, execution and performance improvements using appropriate tools.
• Promote adoption of virtual services to ICT stakeholders and project teams.
• Provide support and guidance to project teams for maintaining their own VSE environments.
• Support Departmental secure Internet gateway, secure systems and data centre/network services.

• Providing technical expertise to projects and business areas, and leads the technical deliverables;
• Maintaining, monitoring and upgrading the Virtual Service Environment (VSE) environments and servers;
• Planning, designing, developing, testing and maintaining new or existing virtual service developments in accordance with guidelines and in collaboration with stakeholders;
• Configuring and deploying virtual services and servers in accordance with the applications operational model governed by application owners;
• Defining and leading the analysis, planning, execution, delivery and performance improvement activities using appropriate tools;
• Promoting the adoption of virtual services to ICT stakeholders and project teams through workshops;
• Providing support and guidance to project teams for maintaining their own virtual service environments.
• Undertaking a range of activities in support of the management and operation of the Department's secure Internet gateway, secure systems, data centre and network services;
• Implementing major/minor project work to support Departmental initiatives;
• Undertaking enhancement and remediation activities across network and gateway systems;
• Managing multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines;
• Liaising with external and internal service providers as required;
• Providing support with infrastructure capacity and planning including mainframe;
• Providing server and networking infrastructure management across geographically dispersed environments;
• Providing fleet management and lifecycle oversight of ICT infrastructure assets;
• Providing data centre operations management, including service delivery and vendor coordination;
• Providing data centre footprint optimisation across commercial and departmental facilities nationwide;
• Travelling interstate as required.
