Job summary

BMD Group in Australia seeks a Design Manager to lead the interface between project delivery teams and design partners, guiding design development through tender and, if awarded, delivery. You will coordinate designers, consultants and construction teams to deliver timely, buildable design outcomes, and provide constructability advice across the bid and delivery phases.

The role requires engineering qualifications and Tier 1/2 experience, with willingness to relocate to Adelaide for a major

Qualifications

• Demonstrated design-management experience on major Australian infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of design coordination, constructability, consultant management, design governance, RFIs and change control.
• Experience across civil and structural works, with marine or other complex interface experience highly relevant.
• Ability to work effectively across pre-contracts and delivery teams and hold design contributors accountable for commitments.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent demonstrated technical capability.

Responsibilities

• Manage design from initial concept and tender development through detailed design, construction, commissioning and completion.
• Coordinate designers, consultants and construction teams to deliver accurate, timely and buildable design outcomes.
• Lead design meetings, records, queries, RFIs, issue tracking and design variation management.
• Provide constructability advice and support project scoping, methodology and design development across the bid.
• Monitor design performance, scope movement, risks, opportunities and significant changes, escalating issues to project leadership.
• Maintain effective relationships with project leaders, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support tendering of design and construct work and contribute to consistent design-management practice.
