Job summary

BMD Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Sydney team. Based initially at Wentworth Point, you will lead commercial strategy, risk management and project mobilisation for major transport, water and civil infrastructure pursuits, transitioning into delivery leadership on a Western Sydney project.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Significant commercial management experience within civil construction or major infrastructure environments.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, commercial risk management and project finance.
• Experience working across project lifecycles, from tendering and procurement through to delivery and close-out.
• Proven ability to lead negotiations, manage stakeholder relationships and resolve complex commercial issues.
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies that support successful project delivery and financial performance.
• Lead contract administration, commercial governance and risk management activities across all project phases.
• Support tender development, commercial reviews and project mobilisation activities during pursuit stages.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, legal requirements and BMD commercial frameworks.
• Oversee project forecasting, cost control, reporting and financial performance.
• Manage claims, variations and commercial negotiations with clients and key stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and delivery partners.
• Mentor and develop commercial personnel while fostering a high-performance culture.
