Qualifications

• Hands-on infrastructure engineering and administration experience.

• Experience with Cisco, FortiGate, HP/Aruba or similar platforms.
• Exposure to Identity and Access Management and SSO.
• Track record delivering infrastructure projects in mid-size or enterprise environments.

Job description

We are seeking an Infrastructure Architect to join a national business based in Sydney. Working closely with the business, you will be responsible for understanding operational challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement, and designing practical infrastructure solutions that support business priorities.

This not a traditional architecture role focused solely on strategy and solutions. Instead, we are looking for someone who combines engineering capability with the ability to design and lead infrastructure solutions.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Infrastructure Engineer who has started taking ownership of solution design and project leadership, or an early-career Architect looking for an environment where they can gain greater autonomy, influence technology direction, and remain hands-on with delivery.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and deliver infrastructure solutions aligned to business objectives and project requirements.
• Lead infrastructure projects from discovery and design through to implementation.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Drive improvements across core infrastructure, networking, security, identity, and end‑user services.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on infrastructure standards, architecture, and best practices.
• Remain hands‑on with implementation, troubleshooting, and project delivery activities.

Upcoming focus areas include:

• Infrastructure automation to improve efficiency and streamline processes
• Security uplift initiatives to strengthen resilience and align with best practice
• Identity & Access Management enhancements, including SSO and access governance improvements
• Network modernisation across core, wireless, and multi‑site infrastructure environments

Experience required

• Background in infrastructure engineering / systems administration.
• Hands‑on experience across Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Windows services.
• Networking knowledge covering routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless technologies, and network protocols.
• Experience with technologies such as Cisco, FortiGate, HP/Aruba, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to Identity and Access Management, Single Sign-On, and security‑focused initiatives.
• Experience delivering projects and designing and delivery solutions ideally in a mid‑size or enterprise environment
• Have an ability to partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
