Job summary

Parks Victoria seeks a Project Officer to lead scoping, coordination and delivery of asset-related infrastructure across North West Victoria. The role blends office work with extensive field operations in iconic parks and reserves.

You will collaborate with asset teams, contractors, and Traditional Owners to deliver compliant projects and improve park infrastructure resilience against future risks.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in PM, Asset Mgmt or CE.
  • Understanding of project lifecycle: planning, procurement, execution, monitoring, closure.
  • Experience managing external contractors and procurement in government contexts.
  • Ability to work with community groups and Traditional Owners respectfully.

  • Support procurement, compliance, and reporting for projects.

The role requires high-level problem-solving and immediate risk assessment when adapting infrastructure plans to changing environmental conditions or emergency response needs and provides a blend of structured office-based work with extensive, active field operations in iconic parks and reserves.Working collaboratively with internal asset and infrastructure teams, contractors, and stakeholders, the Project Officer contributes to project scoping, procurement, compliance, and reporting. The role also supports continuous improvement in project delivery processes and contributes to building resilience in park infrastructure to mitigate future risks. You will work directly at the forefront of joint land management, collaborating respectably with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties to respect and conserve cultural heritage.We're looking for someone with:A Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in Project Management, Asset Management, Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related technical discipline and a current, valid Victorian Driver's License.A clear understanding of project lifecycle principles including planning, procurement, execution, monitoring, and project closure, ideally within a public land, park, or asset management framework.Familiarity with Victorian environmental, planning, and cultural heritage legislation impacting public land, and workplace health and safety (OHS) standards, hazard identification, and risk mitigation protocols.Foundational skills in data collection, accurate record-keeping, reporting, and procurement in a government context.Extensive experience managing external contractors and evaluating work standards.Practical experience collaborating with community groups, and building respectful, inclusive partnerships with Traditional Owners groupsYour application will need to include:A Current ResumeA Cover LetterApplication Closing date: Sunday, 4th October 2026Sound like you?For a confidential discussion about the role, contact Brendan Rodgers on 0439 201 333 Brendan.Rodges@parks.vic.gov.au or apply online!If you don't hold every skill or experience detailed above, please don't rule yourself out.
