Job description

  • The role requires high-level problem-solving and immediate risk assessment when adapting infrastructure plans to changing environmental conditions or emergency response needs and provides a blend of structured office-based work with extensive, active field operations in iconic parks and reserves.
  • Working with Parks Victoria means acting as a custodian for a massive state footprint encompassing over 4 million hectares, 3,000 parks, and 70% of Victoria's coastline. It is an agency that values social and ecological equity, blending modern public sector project management with the deep preservation of natural and cultural landscapes.
  • You will work directly at the forefront of joint land management, collaborating respectably with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties to respect and conserve cultural heritage.
  • Benefit from a strong organisational commitment to flexible working frameworks, staff safety and wellbeing and maximise your personal work-life balance by choosing and negotiating your permanent base location anywhere within the scenic South West Victoria region.
About the role

To support the planning, coordination, and end-to-end delivery of asset and infrastructure projects across South West Victoria, ensuring all park works are maintained and improved in alignment with safety standards, environmental and cultural heritage legislation, and community expectations.

About the Team
  • We prioritise the physical safety and mental well-being of our crew and contractors above all else, ensuring everyone returns home safely from remote regional environments.
  • We do not work in isolation, we build collaborative, respectful partnerships with Traditional Owners, regional volunteers, and local communities to sustainably maintain Victoria's public spaces.
  • We embrace the unpredictability of nature, empowering team members to use sound operational judgment, take initiative, and continuously improve how we deliver resilient infrastructure.
We're looking for someone with:
  • A Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in Project Management, Asset Management, Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related technical discipline and a current, valid Victorian Driver's License to facilitate extensive travel across the region.
  • A clear understanding of project lifecycle principles including planning, procurement, execution, monitoring, and project closure.
  • A comprehensive familiarity with Victorian environmental, planning, and cultural heritage legislation impacting public land.
  • A deep understanding of workplace health and safety (OHS) standards, hazard identification, and risk mitigation protocols.
  • Foundational skills in data collection, accurate record-keeping, resource reporting, and procurement oversight in a government context.
  • A proven track record in executing technical or operational programmes, ideally within a public land, park, or asset management framework.
  • Extensive experience managing external commercial contractors, navigating government procurement workflows, and evaluating work standards.
  • Practical experience collaborating with community groups, regional volunteers, and building respectful, inclusive partnerships with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties.
